You can buy furniture online but you are missing out on a lot of the experience of going to a furniture showroom. When you buy using a computer, you don’t get a chance to sit on the sofas, lie on the beds or slide the drawers on a chest of drawers in and out to make sure that they work as they are supposed to. In a furniture showroom, you should not only be allowed to do all of these things and more but encouraged to do so. You are not only buying a piece of furniture when you go to a furniture store; you are buying an experience as well. You are buying customer service and the name of the furniture store.
Good Location and Easy to Find
A good furniture showroom is one that is easy to find and has a location with adequate parking. If you have to park ten blocks down the street, you may be less enthused about shopping than if you can simply pull up and walk through the door. An out-of-the-way furniture showroom may sound like a classy place but the problem becomes obvious when out-of-town people try to get to your location. If you are hiding your showroom away from people you are sending the message that you are not interested in making very many sales.
The Size of the Showroom
No matter what kind of furniture you are looking for, you have to consider the size of the showroom and how well you can move around the pieces. To properly check out furniture, you have to be able to walk around the entire thing, looking at the back and the sides. You also have to be able to open drawers, doors and perform other mechanical tasks. If you are looking at a sleeper sofa for instance, you should be able to open and close it so that you know how the mechanism works. Never take the word of a salesman in a crowded showroom and don’t wait until you get the sofa to your home before you take a shot at opening it up.
A large, well organized furniture showroom allows you to get an idea of how well a piece is made and how well it functions.
Customer Service and the Buying Experience
When you ask a furniture salesperson a question, you would like for that question to be answered in a confident and concise way. If they do not know the answer, you want them to go and find out the answer. You would like to feel that you are a priority to them. The salesperson should not be checking their cell phone, staring out the window or sizing up other customers while they are speaking to you. You want to feel like you are more than some commissions at the end of the day, but a customer that they value.
